Feeling Like No One Sees Your Facebook Group Posts? Let’s Fix That
You’ve created a Facebook group for your handmade business. You’re posting, sharing, encouraging — but it feels like no one’s seeing it.
If your group engagement is low or inconsistent, the problem probably isn’t you. It’s the algorithm.
In this blog (and this podcast episode), I’m breaking down how the Facebook group algorithm works in 2025 and how you can use it to make your group feel alive, active, and worth showing up for.
Facebook Groups vs. Facebook Pages — What’s the Difference?
Your page is your storefront. It’s public, and its main job is visibility.
Your group is your living room. It’s where people hang out, chat, and build deeper trust with you and your brand.
The algorithm treats them differently. Groups are designed to prioritise community — but that only happens if Facebook sees your group as active and valuable.
So how do you signal that to the algorithm? Let’s break it down.
How the Facebook Group Algorithm Actually Works
The Facebook group algorithm looks at a few key things to decide whether or not to show your posts in members’ feeds or notifications.
1. Member Activity
The more someone interacts in the group (likes, comments, posts), the more often they’ll see future content.
This means engagement leads to visibility. Not the other way around.
2. Group Quality
Facebook tracks how much value the group is providing. If members are active, conversations are happening, and people aren’t just being sold to all the time, your group will be prioritised more.
3. Content Format
Live videos, images, polls, and question-style posts tend to perform better than plain text. The algorithm sees variety and interaction as signals that your group is worth showing to more people.
4. Notifications & “Highlights”
Most members aren’t checking your group manually. They’re seeing it in their feed or “group highlights” — which are influenced by what they’ve previously engaged with.
This is why it can feel like engagement snowballs or disappears completely. It’s based on past interaction.

5 Ways to Get the Facebook Group Algorithm on Your Side
✅ Ask Questions That Are Easy to Answer
Don’t just post “How’s everyone’s week going?” Instead, try:
“What’s one thing you’ve made recently that you’re proud of?”
“Which would you rather sell: bestsellers or one-of-a-kind designs?”
Short, specific questions = quicker responses = better visibility.
✅ Use Polls, Prompts, and Visuals
Polls are algorithm gold. They’re quick to engage with and boost interaction. Add visuals or even fun “this or that” graphics to get people commenting without overthinking.
✅ Start Regular Weekly Posts
Use repeating formats like “Monday Wins,” “Work-in-Progress Wednesday,” or “Friday Faves.” Consistency helps both the algorithm and your members know what to expect.
✅ Encourage Comments More Than Likes
The algorithm gives more weight to comments than reactions. So try ending your posts with questions or prompts like:
“Comment below if this sounds like you…”
“Tag a biz bestie who needs to hear this…”
✅ Go Live or Share Video
Even short lives where you show a new product, share a behind-the-scenes update, or talk through an idea help massively. Live content boosts visibility across the board.
One Last Thing: Make It About Them, Not Just You
Your group is there to build connection — not just to sell. The more your members feel seen, heard, and supported, the more they’ll engage. And the more they engage, the more the algorithm shows them your content.
So don’t be afraid to keep it real. Share stories. Ask for opinions. Celebrate wins — not just your own, but theirs too.
