Today I am going to share with you how to run a sale and how to create a coupon. Sales and coupons are, to be honest they I have been testing them recently and they have done a lot better than Etsy Ads!  So I am going to show you what I do and how I do it. 

How to run a sale

So the first thing I am going to show you is how to run a sale. So the first thing to really kind of think about is do you want to offer a free standard delivery sale, or do you want to run a percentage off? Now I recommend you have free delivery on your items anyway, so for this example I will do a percentage off. One thing I will say if you are running a percentage off sale, or any sale really, you want to make sure you are building that discount into your pricing if it's something that you are going do on a regular basis like I do. I am going to run a 10% off sale, you can do 5%, 7% or what ever you want really, So lets set our sale at 10% off. 

                 

Then choose where you want this offer to be valid. If you really want to increase sales in a specific country you can choose to just run your sale in that country to really increase those sales or you can choose it to be valid everywhere that you ship too. 

You can also choose to have a minimum order value, so this is helpful if you have decided to have a heavier discount and therefore you probably want people to have order more than one item or have a minimum order of like maybe £50 to get this offer. When I have tested sales though I have found that a blanket sales on everything for everyone is really really good. 

Next you want to put in the timeline for your sale, so choose the dates you want your sale to start and your sale to end. So you could just add it for the weekend of maybe a Black Friday sale, or you could just add for one day or 2 days.

If you have any restrictions or terms of sales this is where you need to add that in and dont forget to name your sale as well! 

You can choose which listings to add to your sale, you can choose individual listings, or choose them by category

TOP TIP  - This is really really fun if you have a new set of products out or maybe a limited edition product that you really want to put out there and do a bit of a launch with. 

You can then review all the details before you make your sale active.

How to make a promo code 

MY TOP TIP- Something I do is set up a promo code for each one of my social media sites and every social media site has a different coupon code so that way I can directly measure which sales have come in from which platform, which is super fun to do. 

So setting your coupon is similar to running a sale, you can choose to have a percentage off or you can have a fixed amount off, which is great if you want to do a gift card of sorts, so lets say you have a £10 gift card you can get £10 off and dont forget to set up the minimum order amount to more than £10. 

So let's say we want to create a coupon code for 25% off for buyers, a really really good way to use this is to send this coupon code in packages for when people get there order. You can add dates for how long your coupon will be available for, you can also not include an end date if you want to keep the offer open.

Dont forget to create a custom promo code so I would call this one THANKYOU25 and it will literally create a link for you and well, so if you want to do like an email welcome series and you want this code to be put in there, you can copy that link as well.
